“Your Amazon.com order has shipped”
Apparently I had been living under a rock.
This post is not about my holding a hammer and seeing everything as a nail. It’s about the-way-I’ve-been-doing-it-is-the-only-right-way. (Hmm, they sound like the same thing.) It’s about duck-taping, improvisation (yeah, who knew that word had a negative connotation), and being happy about what you have! Eek, gotta know when to stop all those “bad” habits. Of all people, I should have known that there’s always more out there.
I opened the first page on ASP.NET MVC a few months ago. And dependency injection subject came along, together with test-driven development, linq, and more design patterns that I could spell. My feed reader has grown with more subscriptions, my delicious account with more entries, and my books shelves with more, well, books.
So I ordered my Kindle, because by the look of it, I’m catching up with the library of congress. Now, please allow me to climb on top of that rock I’ve been under; the view is more expansive and clearer from up there.
The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”
Don't worry about what could have been but what will be. Look forward to a future. How can you ever move ahead if you always look behind you?”
Don't worry about what other people think about you. Just do what you need to do and move on. This is also generally good advice for all of life.”
Photos and Books (and Organizing Them)
I’ve just added two more books to my library, sigh. I wish there were more e-book version for photography and programming books. For now, no iPad or Kindle for me. Pretty soon, some of the books on the shelves must go to one of those boxes.
One book is on photos post processing. Funny that I skipped many of the pages; I guess I’ve read ‘em all
. The other books is Digital Asset Management for Photographers. Let me check how many photos I have in my catalog….over fourteen thousands. Yeah, that’s when you know you’ve been taking too many pictures.
Impossible is not a word. It's just a reason for someone not to try.”
[...] the photographer has already made many photographs before the camera is raised to the eye.”
Anxiety, Facing Your Fear
I did a skydive few months ago, so when I decided to explore Magic Mountain with its gut-wrenching roller coasters I thought I’d be riding on kiddie rides.
The ground seemed closer compared to the hundreds feet when I jumped out the airplane. The expectation was too familiar as well as I had ridden roller coasters of different kinds. As a matter of fact, I went to this place about a year ago or two.
But the anxiety was still there as I was in the “waiting room.”
The thrill was still real when the train threw me left and right, up and down.
The excitement was all I felt after each and every ride.
It was a fun day!
